Why "lifetime" is a promise we can actually back up
MemoryVault Community Edition, the same software that runs this hosted service, is open source and free to self-host. If MemoryVault the company ever shuts down or changes direction, a lifetime purchase doesn't leave you stranded: you can export your data and run it yourself, for free, for as long as you want.
"Lifetime" means access to MemoryVault for as long as the hosted service exists, capped at 500 memories, 200 loved ones, and 10GB of storage, the same limits as the monthly and annual plans. It isn't unlimited, and it isn't a guarantee that the company runs forever. It's a guarantee that your memories aren't locked to us even if it doesn't.
