v1.0.0
The first public version of MemoryVault Community Edition has been released.
This is an important milestone for MemoryVault. From the start, the goal has not only been to create a hosted product, but also to make sure people are not locked into one platform. Memories, notes, photos, videos, and legacy messages are deeply personal, and users should have a way to keep ownership and control over them.
With Community Edition, developers and technical users can now self-host MemoryVault and run their own private version of the app.
What is included?
MemoryVault Community Edition v1.0.0 includes the core app and admin environment, including:
Personal dashboard
A central place where users can get an overview of their vault and quickly access the most important parts of the app.
Memory management
Users can create, edit, organize, and manage the memories they want to preserve for the future.
Notes, photo memories, and video memories
Memories can be saved in different formats, from written messages to meaningful photos and personal videos.
All memories can be exported
Users can export their memories, so they can keep access to their own data and are not dependent on one single platform.
Loved-one profiles
Users can add the people who matter to them and link specific memories to the right loved ones.
Custom groups
Loved ones can be organized into groups, such as family, friends, children, or grandchildren, making it easier to share memories with multiple people at once.
Account pages
Users can manage their personal account details and access important settings related to their vault.
Email/password authentication
Basic authentication is included so users can create an account, log in, and access their own private vault.
Trusted-contact and check-in flows
The app includes the foundation for trusted contacts and recurring check-ins, which are used to help determine when memories should be released.
Payload Admin panel
A built-in admin environment for managing content, users, collections, and app data through Payload CMS.
PostgreSQL database support
MemoryVault Community Edition uses PostgreSQL to store structured app data in a reliable and scalable way.
S3-compatible media storage
Photos, videos, and other uploaded files can be stored using S3-compatible storage, making the setup flexible for different hosting environments.
Docker Compose setup for local development
Developers can run the project locally with Docker Compose, making it easier to test, develop, and contribute to the app.
